Tribute To A Great Dog
CH. Jo-Bea's Diamond Trader
Jul.7, 1992 - Nov.1,2006
Where to begin. How can one express what someone or something meant to them, when it meant so much.
I received word last night that Trader had passed. I will never forget Nov 1st of 2006.
Trader to me was an Icon! A legend in his own time. I first saw Trader just about 12 years ago, and in all his fully coated glory. I was meeting Marie at some shows in Pasadena CA to drop off a little blk dog for her to show. As I was standing around waiting to finish up with Marie, I reached over and started petting this beautiful dog. I said to Marie, "She is pretty" Marie chuckled and said " That's Trader"..lol. I will never forget that first impression of him. He was in charge if his space, he welcomed my presence, and loved all the
attention. And in my eyes he was so pretty I thought he was a girl...lol
Some time after my move to Va, I inquired with Marie about a "good" stud dog, and was offered Robin.[Ch. Kutci's Roc N Robin] At that time, never knowing how much this "Trader Son" would mean to me. Well I found out real quick! Robin did for me in one breeding what I had struggled to achieve for years. It wasn't to long after I first bred Robin that Marie encouraged me to use Trader to a blk bitch I sent her to show. Of course when Marie offers Trader, you don't say NO!..lol This little blk bitch bore me 7 beautiful puppies. 5 blk, 2 buff. Of course what I wanted was the buff, and anyone who knows me knows, they both finished and have gone on the do great things! CH. GemstonZ Trade Secret was the first dog I put a 5 point specialty major on from the Bred-By class and a Group placement under Connie Barten on his first weekend out as a "special" he as well maintaned a top 20 ranking for just about 6 months. CH. GemstonZ Champagne On Ice was the Open class winner in Perry, and went on to produce the lovely BIS winning CH. Brickett's Shot In The Dark dog, of which most people are familiar with. Both have consistently produced CH. get, and in the style and quality that is "Trader".
I took my love of this dog a step further several years ago and begun line breeding on Diamond Trader, a decision I have never regretted! Ever! It has always amazed me how the quality came so easily and with predictability. Nearly every one of my current dogs/bitches is sired by or down from Trader in some way. I like many others cherish this. His influence in my breeding has been strong, positive , and consistent. And quality has always followed. This is what made him Great! And make no mistake, he was, Is great!
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to know him, breed to him and to carry on all that made him what he was. He will be sorely missed, and always in my thoughts.
I want to take a moment to list a few of my dogs that are now a piece of the Trader legacy.
